Evangelical Special Clinic Sonnenhöhe Bad ElsterOur clinic is situated in the centre of the Saxon public baths of Bad Elster, in a bright and sunny site on the southern slope of the town. Bad Elster, which has been famous for more than 150 years for its springs and moor applications, has a mild Middle Mountains bracing climate, which is of great use for our therapeutic methods.
The clinic has a 100-year tradition in paediatrics. It was founded in 1913 by Prof. Dr. Paul Köhler under the name “Heimdall” as a heliotherapy centre for children with skeletal tuberculosis. Since 1948 the clinic is an institution of the Evangelical-Lutheran church of Saxony. In the last 30 years a number of holistic special therapy concepts were developed for idiopathic scoliosis. Today orthopaedic illnesses are the centre of the treatment concept – especially the treatment of idiopathic scoliosis. A further strongpoint of the work is prevention regarding adipose children and adolescents.

The visit of the clinic school is an inherent part of the in-patient therapeutical stay in our facilities. Classes range from elementary to upper level education including German, math, general knowledge, English, chemistry, biology, physics, French and computer science. Professional subject teachers teach students in modern, therapy-compatible rooms in small groups.
