Bad Düben
The attractive town situated 30 km north of Dresden has its own peculiar charm. The historical town centre with its narrow houses, its vibrant activity on market days or with its park with sea of rhododendron flowers make for unforgettable holiday memories. The town has an eventful history besides many natural beauties. The distinctive landmark of the city is the 1000 year old castle. It served as headquarters for Napoleon in 1813 from which he directed his troops to battles close to Leipzig. Today a well-preserved one-of-a-kind mill and the open-air museum “Dübener Heide” is located on the castle grounds. A glance across Bad Düben reveals the park with its majestic stock of trees. It was laid out in 1846 as one of the first German public parks. It surrounds the Waldkrankenhaus , a recognised orthopaedic hospital, as well as rehab centre. The clinics on the rehab centre are specialised in medical rehab for patients with cardiological, neurological or orthopaedic/rheumatic illnesses. By the end of the 19th century, the rich sources of the curative moor were used for the development of a spa and health resort. Today the town with the HEIDE SPA Hotel & Resort offers a unique world of relaxation and experience. You will find serenity in the diverse sauna facilities with five different saunas or in the bathing facilities with water temperatures of 32°C.
